Have you ever had an essay to read that was so long that you didn’t know where to start?
Look no further because the thesis statement has the answer!
As I ponder on my
previous courses, when completing assignments, I usually wrote a sentence at
the end of my introduction, which was to point out what will be done in the
assignment. When doing this course I can finally place a word to this action. This is the thesis statement.
The thesis statement should highlight the central focus of the expository or persuasive essay that the writer decides on after careful research of the topic. The thesis should summarize the essence of the essay in one (1) sentence, in other words, it signals to the reader the key points that will be developed through the use of supporting details. The following is a checklist that I have made to ensure that you are on track when writing your thesis statement.
Remember that the order in which you state your thesis is the order in which you state your points for the rest of your essay.
